Downstream accelerates product excellence journey… by joining all-in-one platform for ecommerce management

I’m excited to announce today that Downstream has agreed to be acquired by Jungle Scout, the leading all-in-one platform for selling on Amazon. Jungle Scout is on an exciting ecommerce journey, with 500,000 customers, a growing team of 200, and a powerful, data-driven product suite for Amazon and ecommerce business management — and we’re thrilled to be a part of that growth.

Jungle Scout has been developing technology for Amazon vendors and sellers since 2015, and they have intimate knowledge of the Amazon ecosystem and the strongest channel presence to serve it.

Customer obsession is a leadership principle that my co-founder Salim and I internalized during our tenure at Amazon, and subsequently installed as the backbone of Downstream’s company culture.

I met Jungle Scout’s CEO and Founder Greg Mercer last year, and the more we learned about our respective organizations, the more we saw that same customer obsession reflected in each other's culture, and the more apparent the fit of our two organizations became. From the outset, it was imperative that this merger be in the best interest of all our customers.

Jungle Scout recently launched Cobalt, a powerful market share, trends, and insights solution. They have invested heavily in growing their Cobalt business with brands and their agency partners. As Downstream’s presence is particularly strong in this area of the market, there are some obvious and compelling synergies.

Jungle Scout has seen tremendous demand from their enormous base of Amazon sellers for an Amazon advertising solution, and Greg sought to bring the best possible technology to the Jungle Scout product suite to meet this demand. Pairing Downstream with the robust market analytics and insights of Cobalt and the powerful seller capabilities of Jungle Scout’s all-in-one seller platform creates the most comprehensive and powerful ecommerce solution for sellers, vendors, and agencies — and a huge win for our customers.

What does this mean for Downstream customers?
Downstream has an ambitious roadmap. As a part of Jungle Scout we will have more resources to execute on it — and quickly.

Initially, Downstream will provide the same high level of support and customer experience for customers, while introducing operational improvements around application performance, as well as billing and help documentation.

The greater vision, however, is to partner with Jungle Scout and leverage their industry expertise and resources to continue surprising and delighting our customers with new powerful features, while continuing to raise the customer service bar with each interaction. We’ll be able to expedite access to new retail platforms and provide greater insight than ever into the performance and opportunity of brands on Amazon and beyond.
